How to Start Working with Us

Contact Us

Send us an email to caitlindelgadospeech@gmail.com or give us a call at 973-447-4045 to discuss your specific communication and/or swallowing concerns. We may ask you for additional information to better understand the difficulties you are experiencing. We may also refer you to other providers for imaging or evaluation prior to initiation of care.

Prescriptions and Reports

We may request that you provide us with prescriptions and/or imagine results. These allow the provider to fully understanding the deficits and treat them appropriately. Reports that may be requested include, but are not limited to, modified barium swallow study reports or laryngoscopy results.

Evaluation

With the exception of dysphagia or in the case where the patient has already been evaluated by another SLP within the past 3 months, therapy will begin with an evaluation. An evaluation will last about 60-90 minutes and will aim to assess the presenting disorder. After the completion of the evaluation, a thorough report will be generated which includes goals for treatment.

Treatment

Following evaluation, treatment will be initiated. Treatment sessions will be 60 minutes long and include counselling, training of exercises and compensatory strategies, and education on home exercise plan. Treatment can occur in-person or virtually as agreed upon between the provider and the patient. Treatment frequency will be determined at the time of evaluation, but generally will be between 1-3x weekly. Average length of treatment is 12 weeks, but may be longer or shorter depending on disorder severity and patient progress in therapy. After each session, a treatment note will be generated detailing activities completed in the session, patient performance, and plan for future treatment. Treatment notes may not be sent to the patient after each session, but can be requested at any time.
